The Kenya National Highways Authority has confirmed the temporary closure of Kanyadhiang Bridge on the B2 highway from January 27 to February 5, 2026, to facilitate urgent approach slab repairs.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a formal notification regarding the temporary closure of a section of the Kendubay to Homabay (B2) Road. The closure will affect the Kanyadhiang Bridge and is scheduled to last for 10 days, beginning Tuesday, January 27, 2026, through to Thursday, February 5, 2026.

The official traffic management plan released by KeNHA details the five-kilometer diversion route through Obama Road and Goshen Hotel during the Kanyadhiang Bridge maintenance works.

According to a public notice signed by Acting Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli, the suspension of traffic is necessary to allow for intervention work on the bridge approach slab. These structural components are critical for ensuring a smooth transition between the roadway and the bridge deck.

KeNHA has established specific diversion routes to manage traffic flow during the maintenance period. Motorists traveling from Kendubay toward Homabay are instructed to turn left at Goshen Hotel, proceed via the Oluch Intake Bridge and Nyangajo Primary, and use Obama Road to rejoin the main highway.

Traffic moving in the opposite direction, from Homabay to Kendubay, will be required to turn right onto Obama Road. This route follows the reverse path through Nyangajo Primary, Oluch Bridge, and Goshen Hotel before reconnecting with the B2 road.

The authority has advised motorists to comply with traffic management arrangements and follow instructions provided by police officers and marshals on-site. While the maintenance work is expected to cause localized delays, the agency stated that the measures are essential for the continued integrity of the bridge infrastructure.
