KeNHA announces traffic disruptions at Tana River Bridge on A3 road from Dec 19, 2025, to Jan 15, 2026, for precast concrete girder installation works.

The Kenya National Highways Authority has scheduled off-peak traffic disruptions at the Tana River Bridge on the A3 Road to allow for the installation of precast concrete bridge girders.

The authority has issued a public notice regarding temporary traffic disruptions at the Tana River Bridge along the Ukasi-Garissa-Modika (A3) Road.

According to the state agency, the restrictions are required to facilitate the transportation, launching, and installation of precast concrete girders for the construction of the New Tana River Bridge.

Work is scheduled to take place in two distinct phases. The first window begins on December 19 and runs through December 22, 2025. The second phase is slated for a longer duration, commencing on December 29, 2025, and concluding on January 15, 2026.

To mitigate the impact on regional transport, KeNHA confirmed that construction activities will be confined to off-peak hours. Motorists should expect interruptions between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. during the specified dates.

These works are part of the ongoing infrastructure project to provide a modern crossing over the Tana River, replacing or augmenting the existing capacity on this primary corridor.

The notice, signed by acting Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli, advises motorists to follow on-site traffic management arrangements. Police officers and traffic marshals will be deployed to the bridge and its approach roads to direct the flow of vehicles.

A provided site map indicates that the primary work area is located directly over the river, with traffic control points established on both the Madogo and Garissa sides of the bridge.

Drivers are urged to comply with instructions from flagmen to ensure safety during the heavy lifting and positioning of the concrete bridge components.
