KeNHA has scheduled temporary full closures of each direction on the dual carriageway section between Musikoma Roundabout and Kanduyi Junction from January 19 to February 1, 2026, to carry out surface dressing works.

The Kenya National Highways Authority has issued a public notice detailing upcoming traffic disruptions on a key section of the Mayoni-Bungoma (B139) Road in Bungoma County. The affected dual carriageway stretch runs between Musikoma Roundabout and Kanduyi Junction, where the road connects with the A8.

Surface dressing works will require closing one direction of the road at a time. The Kanduyi-bound lane faces closure from Monday, January 19, 2026, at 6:00 am until Sunday, January 25, 2026, at 6:00 pm. Following that, the Mayoni-bound lane will close from Monday, January 26, 2026, at 6:00 am until Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 6:00 pm.

The authority, through Acting Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli, explained that the phased approach allows the contractor to apply the surface treatment across the dual section while minimising overall disruption. Motorists have been urged to exercise caution near the work zones, adhere to the traffic management plan, and cooperate with police and traffic marshals deployed on site.

The notice, dated January 12, 2026, includes contact details for complaints and customer care, along with KeNHA's toll-free line and social media handles for further updates.
