Kitui East Technical and Vocational College Expands Enrollment to 1,000 Students

Kitui East Technical and Vocational College in Zombe is reporting a significant increase in student numbers, with current enrollment now exceeding 1,000 learners.

The institution, located within Kitui County, has established itself as a central hub for technical training by offering specialized instruction across six distinct academic departments. These include Building and Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics, Computing and Informatics, Business Studies, and Hospitality.

Commissioned by the president, the expansion of the college aligns with broader national efforts under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) to prioritize technical education. 

By focusing on practical, hands-on experience, the institution aims to address the demand for industry-ready skills in the local and national labor markets. The curriculum across these departments is designed to facilitate both formal employment and independent entrepreneurial initiatives for graduates.

The growth of the Zombe-based facility comes at a time when the government is intensifying its focus on vocational training as a primary driver for national development.

The college provides a structured environment where young people in the region can access industry-aligned training. This localized approach to technical education is intended to equip the youth with the expertise required to navigate a changing economic landscape while contributing to the infrastructure and service sectors of Kitui County.
