President William Ruto has committed KSh20 million to expand PCEA Nyamachaki Comprehensive School in Nyeri, following the commissioning of a new tuition block to address rising student enrollment.

The government has announced a KSh20 million funding allocation for the expansion of PCEA Nyamachaki Comprehensive School in Nyeri Town. The funds are designated for the construction of additional facilities to accommodate a growing student population. This commitment followed the official commissioning of a new tuition block at the institution on Monday.

The development at Nyamachaki is part of a broader national program focused on scaling up school infrastructure to support recent education reforms. According to government figures, 23,000 classrooms and 1,600 laboratories have been built across the country to facilitate learning. These structural additions are intended to meet the physical requirements of the transition to senior school levels.

Beyond physical construction, the president reported the recruitment of 100,000 teachers to staff these new facilities. Financial provisions have also been made for the promotion of 25,000 existing teachers to support career progression within the sector. The focus on Nyeri coincides with regional inspections of other infrastructure projects, including the Kenol-Marua dual carriageway.

The newly commissioned tuition block at Nyamachaki was completed through a partnership involving local leadership. The additional KSh20 million will specifically target the expansion of the school's capacity as population growth in the surrounding area increases the demand for admission.
