The first phase of the Milimani Estate Affordable Housing Project in Lurambi Constituency is now complete, bringing 220 new residential units to the Kakamega County housing market. The project, which broke ground in September 2023, represents the initial stage of a long-term development strategy aimed at delivering a total of 4,000 homes in the region.
Located off the Kakamega Airstrip Road, the estate sits adjacent to the State Lodge lane, providing proximity to essential transport links and administrative offices. The architectural layout prioritizes functional urban living through the integration of paved walkways and engineered access roads designed to handle resident traffic. Ample parking has been allocated within the site boundaries to serve the completed blocks.
Site infrastructure includes a focus on communal utility and security. The development features landscaped gardens and green courtyards intended for resident recreation. To support safety and visibility across the estate, a comprehensive lighting system has been installed throughout the common areas and thoroughfares.
This completion comes amid a broader national push to expand housing inventory through the Boma Yangu platform. The 220 units in Lurambi are designed to cater to different segments of the market, including social and affordable categories. Following the conclusion of Phase 1, the government continues to encourage citizens to utilize the Boma Yangu portal for applications and unit allocations.
While Phase 1 marks a successful delivery of the initial residential blocks, the overall master plan for the site remains expansive. Future phases are expected to scale up the current footprint to meet the 4,000-unit target, supported by the existing civil works and utility connections established during the primary construction period.
