The 1,050-unit Kings Boma Estate in Ruiru is substantially complete, with contractors finishing snag-list items as the Kiambu County affordable housing project prepares for official handover.

Construction work at the Kings Boma Estate in Ruiru has reached substantial completion, shifting focus to the final snag-list and handover preparations. The project, located in Kiambu County, comprises 1,050 residential units and forms part of the national government's Affordable Housing Programme.

The development features a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, alongside three-bedroom ensuite units. According to project specifications, the estate includes 504 standard two-bedroom units and 336 ensuite versions, making up the bulk of the residential capacity. All units in the Sh1.8 billion project were reported fully booked months before this final construction stage.

Infrastructure within the estate includes cabro-paved driveways, a secured boundary wall, and solar-powered street lighting for common areas. The site is equipped with a borehole to supplement the water supply and features a community hall and children’s play areas. To address security, the facility uses controlled access points and CCTV monitoring at entry and exit gates.

The completion of the Ruiru site is part of a broader rollout of housing interventions aimed at increasing homeownership across Kenya. Similar projects are currently at various stages of development in other parts of Kiambu County, including Kikuyu and Limuru, as the government continues to expand the affordable housing inventory through partnerships with private developers.
