CAF reviews readiness with East African hosts for AFCON 2027

Host nations for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 have reviewed preliminary preparations alongside continental football leadership to align stadium delivery schedules and regional mobility frameworks.

Kenya Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Salim Mvurya joined counterparts from Uganda and Tanzania during a high-level PAMOJA Oversight Council session. The meeting was chaired by Confederation of African Football (CAF) Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu.

Delegates focused on key coordination frameworks required across all three partner states. Discussions centered on operationalizing the PAMOJA Visa Framework and facilitating seamless cross-border mobility throughout the tournament period.

Officials from member associations, local organizing committee chairpersons, chief executive officers, and principal secretaries attended the session. The joint committee reviewed collective progress as preparations move into the next phase of delivery.

The three host countries established a structured oversight framework to oversee stadium construction, infrastructure upgrades, and training venue preparations. Inter-ministerial teams from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania are aligning logistical, security, and accommodation standards to satisfy tournament guidelines.

Host nations confirmed their shared commitment to complete required infrastructure developments within established schedules. The PAMOJA initiative marks the first joint three-nation host arrangement in the history of the continental showcase.

The oversight council agreed to maintain joint progress evaluations to address technical issues during the execution phase.

Further coordination meetings between CAF representatives and local organizing committees are scheduled over the coming months to track project milestones across the host cities.
