Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has held talks with the Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (ACEK) as the two organisations explore closer collaboration on technical capacity, professional development and electricity transmission projects.
The meeting took place during a courtesy call by the ACEK Council, led by its President, Eng. Gabriel Jabongo, to KETRACO's Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Kipkemoi Kibias.
The discussions focused on strengthening the existing relationship between the two organisations while identifying opportunities for future cooperation.
The ACEK delegation included Chief Executive Officer Eng. Barbara Adhoch, Eng. Andrew Wahome, Eng. Timothy Musiomi, Eng. Gerald Wagana, ACEK Future Leaders Chairman Elvis Alwala and Martha Mutei. According to KETRACO, the visit placed particular emphasis on training initiatives and capacity building for engineering professionals.
Eng. Kibias was joined by senior KETRACO officials, including Eng. Linus Tonui, Eng. Joseph Murage, Eng. Nicholas Kandie, Eng. Dennis Busolo and Jacinta Kemei, reflecting the utility's interest in advancing technical collaboration with the consulting engineering fraternity.
According to KETRACO, the meeting created an opportunity to discuss strategic areas that could strengthen Kenya's electricity transmission infrastructure.
Topics included knowledge sharing, professional capacity development, technical excellence and additional support for project delivery.
KETRACO is the state corporation responsible for planning, designing, constructing, operating and maintaining the country's high voltage electricity transmission network.
The company plays a central role in expanding the national grid and delivering transmission lines that connect new power generation projects to consumers.
ACEK represents consulting engineering firms working across sectors including transport, water, buildings, energy and industrial infrastructure.
The organisation promotes professional standards, engineering excellence and collaboration among consultants involved in infrastructure development.
Partnerships between infrastructure agencies and professional engineering bodies are increasingly viewed as important in developing technical skills and improving project execution.
