The Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS) Kenya will host a two-day hybrid Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminar on September 3 and 4, 2026, at The Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi. The event is themed "Building Resilient Infrastructure in Kenya."
The seminar is organised under the Architects and Quantity Surveyors (Continuing Professional Development) By-Laws 2020, Legal Notice No. 202 of November 6, 2020. It is open to registered architects and quantity surveyors, as well as those seeking registration.
BORAQS has extended the invitation beyond its core membership to engineers, contractors, construction project managers, technicians, landscape architects, interior designers, planners, real estate developers, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) experts and other practitioners across the built environment.
The board outlined three main objectives for the seminar: strengthening the capacity of built environment stakeholders by sharing current knowledge on resilient infrastructure, promoting vertical and horizontal integration in delivering infrastructure that is safe and sustainable, and reinforcing compliance with national standards and emerging technologies throughout a project's lifecycle.
Participation is available either physically or virtually, with registration and payment due by Friday, August 28, 2026. Fees vary by professional category, with registered architects and quantity surveyors, engineers, contractors, landscape architects, interior designers, construction project managers, EIA experts and real estate developers each charged Sh20,000, while Year 2026 candidates and technicians pay Sh15,000. Other participants outside these categories will pay Sh25,000.
Registered persons attending the full two-day programme will earn 20 CPD points along with a certificate of attendance. BORAQS reminded registered members that they are required to attain a minimum of 30 CPD points annually under the 2020 by-laws.
Alongside the seminar announcement, BORAQS used the notice to caution developers and the general public to verify that any architect or quantity surveyor they engage is registered and in good standing with the board. The register of licensed professionals and firms is published on the board's website, and any individual or firm not listed is not permitted to practise architecture or quantity surveying in Kenya.
The board also invited industry players dealing with construction materials, systems and technologies to book exhibition space or arrange presentations during the seminar, citing an expected attendance of over 1,000 professionals. The notice was issued by BORAQS Registrar QS. George C. Omondi.
