Built environment professionals are set to gather this September for a networking day built around fairways rather than boardrooms.

The Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK) will hold its 28th Annual Golf Tournament on September 11 at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club, bringing together professionals and stakeholders from across the built environment sector.

The event is structured as a networking day rather than a competitive showcase, giving quantity surveyors, architects, engineers and other construction industry players a chance to connect outside the usual conference or seminar setting. Registration is set at Sh4,000 per person.

Interested participants can register through M-Pesa PayBill number 933450, using the account name GOLF. IQSK has asked prospective players and attendees to secure their spots ahead of the tournament date, without specifying a registration deadline.

The tournament carries sponsorship backing from Lofty-Corban Investments Limited and the Kenya Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors (KABCEC), both listed as partners on the event's promotional material.

Royal Nairobi Golf Club, the tournament's venue, is one of the country's oldest golf courses and a longstanding host for corporate and professional networking events in the capital. Its central location has made it a frequent choice for industry associations organising similar gatherings.

Annual golf tournaments of this kind have become a recurring feature on the calendars of professional bodies in Kenya's construction and built environment space. Beyond recreation, such events typically serve as informal venues for deal-making, partnership discussions and relationship-building among firms and individual practitioners who might not otherwise interact outside formal business settings.

IQSK, the professional body representing quantity surveyors in Kenya, has run this tournament annually for over two decades, making the upcoming edition its 28th consecutive staging. The institute did not indicate in its announcement whether this year's format would differ from previous editions.

Organisers listed two contact numbers, 0721 676823 and 0786 676824, for enquiries related to registration, sponsorship or general event details. Additional information is also available through the institute's website.

For IQSK members and the wider construction fraternity, the tournament offers a lower-pressure alternative to formal industry events, combining sport with the kind of informal access to stakeholders that can be harder to secure in typical office or site settings. With registration now open, the institute is encouraging early sign-up ahead of the September date.
