Principal Secretary for Defence Dr Patrick Mariru on Wednesday visited the site of the proposed 10,000-seater Kipchamba Stadium in Bomet County. The facility is located at Kyogong in Nyangores Ward.
The stadium will feature a canopy, changing rooms, sports equipment and a green football surface. It is intended to provide a suitable environment for sporting activities and community recreation.
The project is currently at the early stages of mobilisation. Fencing of the site has been completed. The designs are ready.
Excavation works are scheduled to commence this Friday. Mariru said the Ministry is accelerating implementation of the project.
In consultation with the contractor, more flexible working hours have been agreed. These include a day-and-night work schedule. The aim is to ensure construction progresses as planned.
The facility is to be completed by December this year as instructed by President William Ruto. Mariru stated that the Ministry will continue working closely with the relevant implementing partners and stakeholders.
The visit formed part of the Principal Secretary’s continued commitment to effective implementation and timely delivery of national projects under the Ministry of Defence.
Officials present reviewed the fenced site and the readiness of the designs. The open ground at Kyogong is now prepared for the start of excavation.
Flexible hours are expected to support faster progress once ground works begin. The December target remains the guiding timeline for the contractor and supervising team.
No changes to the stated capacity or features were announced during the inspection. The green football surface and supporting facilities form part of the planned design.
Mariru emphasised successful delivery of the national project. Coordination with partners will continue through the coming phases of construction.
The early mobilisation phase has cleared the way for the next steps. Fencing completion marks a visible sign of site preparation.
Further activity is expected once excavation gets under way on Friday. The Ministry maintains oversight to keep the works on the agreed schedule.
