The daring stunts, booming music, colourful graffiti, and celebrity status that have transformed Nairobi's nganya culture into a youth phenomenon are once again under scrutiny. This follows a deadly crash along Enterprise Road that left five people dead, and at least 12 others seriously injured.

Emergency response teams rushed to the scene in Nairobi's Industrial Area, where the public service vehicle lay overturned.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has previously attempted to crack down on reckless driving and unauthorized vehicle modifications. Despite these efforts, enforcement on busy urban routes remains a challenge.

The National Police Service (NPS) arrived to manage traffic and secure the area, while onlookers gathered around the wreckage.

This incident has amplified calls from the public for stricter regulation of Public Service Vehicles (PSV), particularly those known for high-speed maneuvers and loud music.

Local commuters expressed frustration over the safety risks associated with some of the city's more aggressively driven mini-buses, noting that speed limits are routinely ignored during peak hours.

Measures by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) to improve infrastructure design have aimed to reduce accidents, but safety advocates argue that driver behavior remains the primary risk factor on these arterial roads.

The injured passengers were transported to nearby medical facilities, while a full investigation into the exact cause of the crash is currently underway.
