Section of the busy road between Karuna Close and Westlands Roundabout will be closed from June 25 to September 25, 2026.

The Kenya National Highways Authority has issued a public notice on partial closure of Waiyaki Way. The affected section lies between Karuna Close and Westlands Roundabout on the Nakuru-bound carriageway.

The closure will run from Thursday, June 25, to Friday, September 25. It will allow extension works on the existing pedestrian footbridge at Dunhill Towers.

Construction of the proposed Fogo Gaucho - QuickMart Westlands Footbridge forms part of the project. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and follow diversion routes.

Temporary traffic signs and control measures will be in place. Police and traffic marshals will assist with flow management during the period.

Waiyaki Way is a critical artery linking Nairobi’s central business district with western suburbs and beyond. The works aim to improve pedestrian safety in a high-traffic commercial area.

Construction activities like footbridge extensions often require carriageway closures to protect workers and ensure quality. KeNHA has assured the public of coordinated traffic management.

Commuters and businesses along the route should plan alternative routes. The closure coincides with ongoing infrastructure upgrades in the Westlands area.

KeNHA Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli signed the notice. The authority urged cooperation to minimise disruptions.

Pedestrian footbridges enhance safety at busy intersections. The Dunhill Towers and proposed Westlands projects will serve growing foot traffic in commercial zones.

The announcement reflects KeNHA’s continued focus on both vehicular and non-motorised transport infrastructure. Similar works are underway in other parts of the country.

Motorists can contact KeNHA for enquiries through provided channels. Real-time updates on diversions will help reduce congestion during the three-month period.
