The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), through a public notice, has announced a temporary, nine-hour closure of a critical section of the Eldoret Bypass, a key piece of infrastructure connecting the northern and southern transport corridors.
The closure is scheduled for Saturday, November 22, 2025, to allow for the smooth and safe execution of the 2025 Ceder Sports Academy cycling race.
This road segment, specifically the Eldoret Bypass (A8-North Road) between the Cheplaskei Interchange and the Maili Tisa (Leseru) Interchange, will be inaccessible to regular traffic from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The temporary disruption underscores the government's commitment to facilitating various national events, even those requiring the brief diversion of heavy flow traffic from major infrastructural assets.
The Eldoret Bypass, which plays a pivotal role in easing congestion within the city's Central Business District, will instead see its main transit duties routed back through the city center.
Motorists are strongly advised by KeNHA, under the direction of Acting Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli, to utilize the alternative route: the Cheplaskei - Maili Tisa (A8) Road section.
The Authority has also issued a plea for patience and cooperation from residents living along the bypass and all affected road users during the closure period to ensure the success of the sporting event and minimize inconvenience.
