Motorists will share a temporary single lane diversion for three weeks as crews install a drainage structure near Simba Cement.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a partial closure of a section of the Emali-Isineti (A5) Road near Simba Cement, running from Friday, July 24 to Thursday, August 13.

The closure will allow crews to install a drainage culvert across the carriageway at an existing natural channel, according to a public notice issued by the authority.

During the closure period, traffic will be routed through a temporary diversion approximately 100 metres long, constructed alongside the closed section. Vehicles will use the diversion on an alternating single lane basis, as outlined in KeNHA's diversion plan.

The affected stretch lies along a section of road connecting Kimana and Emali, with the diversion positioned near an existing outfall that drains into a nearby river.

KeNHA advised motorists to exercise caution while passing through the area, adhere to posted traffic signs and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals stationed on site to manage the alternating flow.

The notice was issued under KeNHA Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli, with the authority directing enquiries to its complaints email, toll free line and customer care number.
