Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale confirms compliance with judicial suspension of the controversial Laikipia Air Base isolation infrastructure.

The government will comply with a High Court order that temporarily stopped the establishment of an Ebola quarantine facility at the Laikipia Air Base in Nanyuki.

Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale stated that the administration intends to respect the judicial directive halting the project.

The suspension follows a legal challenge regarding the construction and operation of the specialized isolation center within the military installation.

The planned facility, intended to manage potential cases amid regional health concerns, drew scrutiny from civil society groups and local leadership.

Despite the commitment to obey the court, the Ministry of Health maintains its focus on broad national biosecurity and emergency response preparedness.

Cabinet Secretary Duale, however, warned that he will not hesitate to invoke sections of the Public Health Act to enforce stricter containment measures.

These statutory powers grant the health docket head authority to mandate decisive actions to prevent the spread of highly communicable epidemics.

Such emergency measures would be activated immediately should a positive case of the virus be confirmed anywhere within Kenya's territories.

The legal pause forces a temporary standstill on the bilateral health infrastructure plan, which has sparked intense public debate over safety protocols.

The state maintains that vigilance remains high at all border points, even as physical works at the Laikipia site face a legal freeze.
