The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) issued a public notice confirming a temporary partial closure of Waiyaki Way (A8 Road) along the Mombasa-bound lanes.

The affected section lies between the Global Trade Centre (GTC) and Villa Rosa Kempinski. Maintenance works will begin on Friday, July 31, 2026, and run until Monday, August 31, 2026.

Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli stated that the closure is required to facilitate scheduled highway maintenance along the highway corridor.

Motorists planning to use the route are advised to utilize open unclosed sections, including adjacent service lanes, or adopt alternative diversions. Alternative routes include Lower Kabete Road, Peponi Road, James Gichuru Road, and Ring Road Kileleshwa.

KeNHA urged drivers to follow the approved traffic management plan and cooperate with traffic marshals and police officers deployed at the site. Normal traffic operations will resume upon completion of the maintenance activity.
