Bamburi Cement PLC (BCP) has reported a 59 percent growth in half-year net profit, driven by increased sales turnover and enhanced operational controls across its regional supply chain.
The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) listed cement producer posted a net profit of Sh1.3 billion for the six-month period ending June 2026. Company leadership attributed the earnings performance to stronger market demand in key building segments, alongside targeted efforts to streamline plant operations and mitigate rising cost pressures.
Higher commercial turnover contributed directly to the expanded earnings base during the period under review. The manufacturer recorded increased volumes across its commercial product portfolio, supported by ongoing commercial and private real estate activity, alongside major civil engineering developments across East Africa.
Operational efficiency measures implemented at the production facilities helped protect margins against elevated fuel and raw material expenses. The management noted that optimized kiln operations, logistics coordination, and power consumption management kept overhead growth below the rate of revenue expansion.
The cement manufacturer continues to position itself within the local construction materials market, where public infrastructure investment and private housing development drive baseline demand. Sector observers note that stable cement supply remains central to supporting ongoing road, residential, and commercial developments across urban centers.
Looking ahead to the second half of the trading year, company management expects continued focus on cost discipline and supply chain reliability. Demand fundamentals across primary building sectors remain pivotal to sustaining commercial performance through the remainder of the financial year.
