CFAO Mobility Kenya has launched the Toyota bZ4X. The move brings the Japanese automaker’s first fully electric vehicle to the Kenyan market.
The bZ4X arrives backed by Toyota’s long presence in Kenya. Officials from CFAO and the Embassy of Japan attended the event in Nairobi.
Toyota positions the vehicle around its core promise of Quality, Durability and Reliability. The company designed the bZ4X to handle tough conditions while delivering zero-emission driving.
The name bZ4X stands for Beyond Zero four-wheel crossover. It offers up to 516 kilometres of range and accelerates from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 5.1 seconds. All Wheel Drive comes as standard.
A specialised X-MODE with Grip Control helps in slippery conditions. Ground clearance sits between 206 and 212 millimetres while wading depth reaches 500 millimetres. These specifications suit both urban roads and rough terrain common across Kenya.
Charging proves quick. A 150 kilowatt direct current fast charger takes the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in 30 minutes. An eight-year or 120,000 kilometre battery warranty provides additional buyer confidence.
Service backing forms a major part of the offer. CFAO Mobility operates 43 branches and service centres nationwide. Technicians have received global training on electric vehicle maintenance.
Arvinder Reel, CFAO’s Managing Director, described the launch as the next chapter in mobility. He said the model combines zero emissions, strong range and advanced safety without sacrificing durability.
Joshua Anya, Deputy Managing Director at CFAO Mobility Kenya, linked the bZ4X to Toyota’s broader push toward carbon neutrality. He noted the vehicle delivers value beyond emissions alone.
The SUV rides on the e-TNGA platform. This modular architecture delivers high body rigidity and a low centre of gravity for better stability. Exterior styling features Toyota’s hammerhead front design with aerodynamic elements.
Inside, the cabin follows a Family Lounge concept that gives equal comfort to all occupants. Safety systems fall under the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite. Features include Pre-Collision System, Lane Trace Assist and Safe Exit Assist.
The timing aligns with rising interest in electric vehicles in Kenya. Registrations passed 35,000 units by the end of 2025. The bZ4X enters as the market expands and energy sector discussions intensify.
Global reviews praise the model’s dynamic performance and genuine off-road ability. Local buyers now gain access to these traits through an established dealer network.
Toyota has sold vehicles in Kenya for six decades. The bZ4X launch signals the brand’s willingness to adapt its lineup to changing customer expectations around emissions and technology.
CFAO Mobility expects the vehicle to appeal to buyers seeking a capable electric option that retains traditional Toyota strengths. Pricing and exact availability details were not disclosed during the launch event.
The introduction adds another choice in Kenya’s growing electric vehicle segment. How quickly charging infrastructure catches up could shape adoption rates in the months ahead.
