New infrastructure routes will connect local motorists to Juja Farm and Thika superhighway to bypass hours of daily traffic.

The Kiambu County government is constructing two key link roads in Juja to provide alternative access routes for motorists navigating the heavily congested town.

One of the infrastructure projects will connect motorists to the Juja Farm road, while the other offers a direct link to the Nairobi Thika superhighway.

Speaking during the construction of the link roads, Kalimoni Member of County Assembly (MCA) Godfrey Mucheke noted that the project would enhance accessibility across the town.

Mucheke stated that the new roads are intended to attract more investment and business opportunities while stimulating social and economic development in Juja and its surrounding environments.

Local residents and business owners welcomed the initiative, stating that they have endured severe traffic jams for years, particularly during morning and evening peak hours.

The persistent gridlock has heavily affected local enterprises and daily activities, forcing commuter vehicles to remain stuck in traffic for more than two hours on a regular basis.

The ongoing works are expected to open up the transit network, offering a major reprieve for public transport operators and private drivers who rely on the network daily.

Traders in the town noted that the current delays cause significant financial losses, as suppliers and customers face prolonged blockages along the primary entry points of Juja.

Urban planning experts have previously pointed out that the rapid growth of the university town has overwhelmed existing feeder roads, necessitating urgent structural interventions from county authorities.

The Thika superhighway remains a critical national transport artery, meaning any local congestion within Juja quickly spills over, affecting the broader flow of traffic entering and leaving Nairobi.

The new alternative routes are designed to intercept traffic before it reaches the central business district, distributing the vehicle load more evenly across the suburban grid.

County engineers are prioritizing earthworks and structural drainage systems to ensure the new link roads can withstand heavy commercial vehicles and intense weather conditions over the long term.

Local transport associations have urged the county government to expedite the remaining phases of the project to allow quick relief for the thousands of daily commuters.

Upon their ultimate opening, the two routes will create a reliable loop system, seamlessly linking agricultural zones around Juja Farm back to the main industrial highway network.

Property developers in the region have also expressed optimism, predicting that the improved infrastructure will raise land values and spur residential housing projects along the newly opened corridors.

The county administration has indicated that this project forms part of a larger infrastructural master plan aimed at modernizing transport nodes within rapidly expanding sub-counties across Kiambu.

Residents have called for the installation of streetlights and proper road markings as the construction nears its final phases to guarantee safety during nighttime travel.

The completion of these alignment works will alter local traffic management, transforming Juja from a restrictive bottleneck into a highly accessible and fluid transit hub.
