Kiambu Schools Get New Classrooms, Upgrades as NG-CDF Projects Expand Across Constituency

Schools across Kiambu Town Constituency are undergoing a broad infrastructure upgrade programme that combines construction of new facilities with rehabilitation of ageing buildings, as National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) projects continue across several institutions.

The works, being implemented under the constituency's education infrastructure programme, include new classroom blocks, refurbishment of existing learning spaces and improvements to school security infrastructure. According to the programme, the focus extends beyond expanding capacity to modernising facilities that have served learners for years.

At Kiambu Primary School, 18 classrooms are currently undergoing comprehensive refurbishment. The latest phase follows the construction of 11 additional classrooms at the school, increasing available learning space while addressing congestion concerns.

The renovation programme includes replacement of ageing roofs, doors and windows, installation of floor tiles, repainting of classrooms and fitting of new blackboards. Security improvements are also underway, with construction of a perimeter wall around the playground and installation of modern entrance gates.

At Kiambu Township Secondary School, construction of a two-storey classroom block is approaching completion. The facility will provide 12 classrooms and add substantial learning space for the institution, which has experienced growing student enrolment.

The building has been designed with modern finishes, including tiled floors intended to improve the learning environment. The project forms part of a constituency-wide programme that has been implemented since 2023 and has focused on both new construction and rehabilitation works.

Infrastructure development is also taking shape at Ting’ang’a Model Primary School, where work has started on a perimeter wall and a modern entrance gate. The project aims to strengthen security for learners, staff and school property while improving the overall appearance of the institution.

According to Kiambu Town MP Machua Waithaka, investment in school infrastructure remains central to efforts aimed at improving learning conditions. The programme has increasingly combined classroom expansion with upgrades to existing facilities rather than concentrating solely on new construction.

The approach reflects a wider trend seen in education projects where older facilities are rehabilitated alongside new developments. In many schools, ageing classrooms continue to serve large student populations, making renovation works as important as additional construction.

Recent projects within Kiambu have also included improvements such as science laboratories, perimeter walls, paving works and other learning facilities funded through NG-CDF allocations. These investments form part of broader efforts to improve physical learning environments in public schools across the constituency.

The latest projects highlight the continued role of constituency development funding in delivering education infrastructure. As construction and rehabilitation works progress, several schools across Kiambu Town are expected to benefit from additional learning space, upgraded facilities and enhanced security measures in the coming months.
