The team assessed the suitability of the grounds. They also reviewed site conditions in preparation for development of the proposed 10,000-seater stadium.
Work on the project is expected to begin shortly. The initiative follows direction from President William Samoei Ruto.
Nyamira County currently lacks a major modern stadium of this scale. The new facility will provide a dedicated venue for sports and community events once completed.
The inspection allowed officials to examine soil conditions, topography and access routes. These factors influence the design and construction approach for the main stands and supporting infrastructure.
Brigadier Titus Sokobe provided technical input during the site review. His role focuses on special projects under the Kenya Defence Forces engineering mandate.
The proposed stadium will feature a 10,000-seater capacity. This size suits county-level competitions and larger regional gatherings.
Site conditions appeared favourable based on the initial assessment. Further detailed surveys will guide the detailed engineering designs ahead of groundbreaking.
The Ministry of Defence through the Kenya Defence Forces will likely continue its supervisory role during construction. This arrangement has supported several public infrastructure projects in recent years.
Nyamira County stands to gain a significant sports asset. The facility will support local talent development programmes and host football matches along with athletics events.
Officials discussed coordination between national and county teams during the visit. Such collaboration helps align project timelines with local development priorities.
The 10,000-seater design will require construction of terraces, a playing field and basic amenities. Associated works will include access roads and drainage systems suited to the site.
Upon completion the stadium will operate under county management. It will integrate into the broader sports infrastructure network serving Nyamira and neighbouring counties.
The ground inspection marks an important early step in project delivery. It ensures that construction begins on a solid foundation with clear understanding of site constraints.
