The inspection focused on the pace of construction and the quality of works completed so far. The project continues to advance according to the established programme.

Completion is scheduled before December 2026. Once ready the upgraded stadium will serve as a key sporting venue for Kisumu County and the wider Nyanza region.

Moi Stadium has long functioned as a central facility for football and other events in Kisumu. The current rehabilitation aims to modernise the infrastructure to meet contemporary standards.

Ministry of Defence supervision through the Kenya Defence Forces brings engineering and project management capacity to the delivery. This arrangement supports timely execution of the remaining tasks.

The County Commissioner and security personnel ensured smooth access and coordination during the visit. Their involvement highlights the multi-agency approach to the project.

The Chief of Special Projects from Kenya Defence Headquarters provided technical oversight on site. Discussions during the inspection covered coordination between national and county teams.

Progress observed during the tour indicates steady advancement on structural and finishing elements. Remaining works focus on areas that will bring the facility to full operational readiness.

The upgraded stadium will support talent development and sports promotion in the region. It will also host larger events once spectator facilities and associated infrastructure are complete.

Kisumu County stands to benefit from an improved venue that meets safety and functionality requirements for modern sports. The project forms part of ongoing investments in public facilities across the county.

Officials reviewed documentation and physical works during the inspection. They assessed how the project aligns with the December 2026 target.

The Ministry of Defence continues to play a central role in delivering this and similar infrastructure initiatives. Its involvement has contributed to consistent progress on several public projects in recent periods.

Upon completion the stadium will operate under county management. It will integrate into the broader sports and community events calendar for Kisumu and neighbouring areas.
