Construction progress on the 74-kilometre Mbita-Sindo-Kiabuya-Sori Road is advancing steadily promising to transform Homa Bay and Migori counties. The upgrade to bitumen standards is boosting the blue economy and agriculture by linking fishing towns and farms to markets. Additionally the road enhances access to Ruma National Park and essential services like schools and hospitals.

The ongoing construction of the 74-kilometre Mbita-Sindo-Kiabuya-Sori Road is steadily advancing and bringing a wave of optimism to residents and investors across Homa Bay and Migori counties.

This ambitious infrastructure project is designed to upgrade the route to bitumen standards and serves as a critical development milestone for the Nyanza region.

By establishing a reliable transport corridor, the project effectively links key fishing towns with productive farmlands and bustling trading centres along the shores of Lake Victoria.

he economic landscape of the region is already witnessing a transformation as the road begins to take shape. Improved connectivity is a major boost for local trade and market access, which has historically been hampered by poor road conditions during rainy seasons.

Beyond agriculture and trade, the road traverses through the scenic Ruma National Park and various fertile agricultural zones, making it a strategic asset for tourism and the blue economy.

With better access now available to hotels, lake landing sites and fish processing ventures, investors see the upgraded road as a catalyst for unlocking the tourism potential of the lake region while simultaneously supporting the sustainable exploitation of aquatic resources.

The impact of this project extends to social welfare as well. The road is significantly improving access to essential services such as schools and health facilities for communities that were previously difficult to reach.

This development is viewed as an essential step toward inclusive socio-economic growth, ensuring that the benefits of infrastructure investment are felt by residents at the grassroots level.

As the project nears completion, the communities in Homa Bay and Migori anticipate a future defined by enhanced mobility and robust economic opportunities.
