CSA-TUK Holds Successful Inaugural Gala Dinner Celebrating Construction Students

Over 145 attendees gathered for the landmark event that highlighted growth, partnerships and leadership in Kenya's future construction industry.

The Construction Students Association (CSA) at the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) held its inaugural gala dinner on 12 June 2026. The event brought together 145 attendees including students, alumni, industry leaders and guests for a night of celebration and networking.

Kariuki Kevin, who served as chairperson of the dinner committee, described the planning process as demanding yet rewarding. The committee, led by Meshack Were, Hope Mang’eni and Jackline Mutua along with the full CSA council under Hadassa Kibet and Ruth Juma, overcame several postponements to deliver the occasion.

Chief guest Nashon Okowa and guest speaker Ms Ivy Wangari addressed the gathering. Their contributions offered wisdom and inspiring insights that encouraged students to think bigger and aim higher in the construction field.

Sponsors and partners played a vital role in the success. Support came from Mirage Plumbing, Deco Roofing Systems Limited, Duco Africa Construction and Trade Limited, Beacon Africa, the Institution of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya and the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya among others.

Partners such as Batir, Mr.Fixit and Lemorgan Designs Limited also contributed. MC Mr Peter Kitavi kept the evening engaging throughout.

Founding patron QS David Choka and current patrons Madam Pauline and Dr Ayub received appreciation for their ongoing guidance. Alumni Chairperson Qs Isaiah Gathieki was recognised for strengthening ties between students and industry.

The gala dinner served as a platform to showcase the association’s growth, partnerships and impact over the years. It also created memories that will motivate participants long into their professional careers.

Mjengo Hub is proud of the Construction Students Association at the Technical University of Kenya. Events like this strengthen the next generation of professionals who will shape Kenya’s built environment.

The occasion demonstrated the value of student-led initiatives in bridging academia and industry. It sets a high standard for future activities by the association and similar bodies across Kenyan universities.
