Kenya Green Building Society (KGBS) is taking part in the Housing Innovation Expo 2026, opening today at the KANU Grounds in Nanyuki Town.
The event, organized by Habitat for Humanity Kenya alongside the Laikipia County Government, addresses pressing development priorities by tackling the growing demand for affordable, resilient, and sustainable housing through alternative building technologies.
Operating under the theme "Catalyzing Sustainable Demand for Alternative Building Technologies," the expo acts as a live platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, technology demonstrations, and partnerships to accelerate quality housing delivery.
The forum brings together government agencies, private sector players, development partners, academia, financial institutions, innovators, and local communities to explore practical solutions for transforming Kenya's housing sector.
KGBS is using its exhibition booth to offer direct education on green building certification and sustainable construction practices, showing how the built environment contributes to climate resilience.
As urban centers across Laikipia face immense population pressure, conventional building methods are proving too slow and costly. This gathering forces an immediate shift toward alternative materials to help local contractors cut costs.
The open-air exhibition offers free entry to the public, allowing local artisans and small-scale developers to interact directly with green building advisors. Specialized sessions focus on training, capacity building, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks.
