Work on the County Aggregation and Industrial Park at Riwa in Homa Bay County has advanced with four warehouses at substructure stage and four others at roofing level on the 536-hectare site.

The County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) at Riwa in Rachuonyo Constituency, Homa Bay County, is taking shape. The project forms part of the government’s push to establish decentralised manufacturing hubs across the country.

Dr Raymond Omollo, Principal Secretary in the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, highlighted ongoing works at the site. Four warehouses have reached substructure completion and now await final finishes including plastering and installation of essential amenities.

Another four warehouses are at the roofing stage. The entire perimeter wall around the 536-hectare site is fully constructed, providing security for the expansive facility.

The development is a joint effort between the national government and Homa Bay County Government. It aims to position the region as a key player in agro-industrial growth under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

Once complete, the CAIP will support value addition for several local value chains. These include cotton, pineapple, fish, oil palm, groundnuts, avocado and sweet potato. The park will facilitate aggregation, processing and improved market access for farmers.

The State Department for Internal Security is coordinating local administrative structures and security agencies. This ensures a stable environment that can attract investors and support long-term industrial activity at the site.

The project reflects a broader strategy to promote industrialisation through county-level hubs. Such facilities are designed to reduce post-harvest losses, create jobs and strengthen rural economies.
