The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has requested bids for the fourth-quarter financial year 2025-2026 road maintenance cycle, targeting key infrastructure corridors across the country. The procurement notice includes specific allocations for both the Western and Nyanza regions, funded through the Road Maintenance Levy Fund.
Contractors are invited to bid for the periodic maintenance of the Luanda to Majengo via Gisiambai (B127) road. This Western region tender requires registration with the National Construction Authority (NCA) under categories 3, 4, 5, or 6, and is open to all eligible local firms.
A mandatory pre-tender site visit for the B127 road project is scheduled for July 2, 2026. Prospective bidders will gather at the junction of the A12 and B127 roads, located next to the Shell service station in Luanda along the Kisumu to Busia road.
The authority has also issued a performance-based contract for the maintenance of the Mbwekas to Mayoni via Ekero (B12) road. This contract is explicitly reserved for women-owned enterprises, requiring an NCA registration status of category 4 or 5.
A pre-tender site meeting for the B12 route will occur on July 1, 2026, at the Korinda junction in Busia. KeNHA mandates that any firm attending these regional site visits must be represented by a qualified technical person holding at least a diploma in civil or highway engineering.
Additionally, the state corporation is tendering a performance-based contract for the Chebarbar to Lessos via Nabkoi (B12) road. This contract falls under the Western region administration and requires NCA registration in categories 4, 5, or 6, with open eligibility for all bidders.
The site visit for the Chebarbar to Nabkoi section will take place on June 30, 2026, at the Chebarbar junction in Kapsabet. Western region bids must be submitted to the Kakamega office by July 16, 2026.
In the neighboring Nyanza region, KeNHA is targeting the Kisii to Nyaramba (B4) road under a performance-based contract. The tender is reserved for women contractors with NCA registration categories 4, 5, or 6, with a site visit scheduled for July 1, 2026, at Daraja Moja.
Another performance-based contract covers the maintenance of the Kehancha to Masara (B1) road. This contract is open to all eligible bidders within NCA categories 4, 5, or 6, with the mandatory site visit planned for July 2, 2026, at Masara Town.
To enhance equity, KeNHA has introduced a strict equity rule allowing firms to bid for a maximum of two tenders but restricting actual awards to one contract per bidder. Bidders participating in more than two tenders face automatic disqualification from the process.
Firms with ongoing works or those previously awarded contracts in the 2025-2026 financial year are entirely ineligible to participate. All prospective contractors must sequentially serialize every single page of their submitted bid documents to avoid disqualification.
Furthermore, directors bidding under different companies for the same tender will be rejected. Bidders must ensure their rates are within prevailing market rates, with completed documents securely deposited in plain, sealed envelopes at the respective regional offices before the July 1 6 deadline.
