The construction of the 34-kilometer Turbo-Sikhendu Road, a crucial infrastructure project costing KSh3.6 billion, takes shape. The road, located in Lugari Constituency, is designed to upgrade the route to bitumen standard, effectively connecting the highly agricultural counties of Western Kenya.

President William Ruto today presided over the launch of the Turbo-Sikhendu Road Project, a transformative infrastructure investment poised to unlock significant economic potential in the Western region. This undertaking marks a pivotal moment in the government's commitment to enhancing national connectivity and facilitating easier movement of goods and people across key agricultural counties.

The 34-kilometer stretch is strategically designed to link the highly productive regions of Kakamega, Uasin Gishu, Bungoma, and Trans Nzoia, creating a crucial artery for commerce and agriculture. It is a major component of the government's broader agenda to improve road network density, a necessity underscored by the President during the launch at Pan Paper Centre in Lugari Constituency.

President Ruto highlighted that regions like Western Kenya have faced significant development deficits, emphasizing that such affirmative action in infrastructure is essential for equitable national progress. The project reflects a concentrated effort to bring development to par with other parts of the country, ensuring no region is left behind.

In his address, the President reiterated the ambitious plan to build 230 kilometers of roads in Kakamega County alone this financial year, complementing the Turbo-Sikhendu Road. He further proposed the establishment of a National Infrastructure Fund to raise KSh1.5 trillion, which would be sufficient to accelerate the development of critical road networks across all parts of Kenya.

This forward-thinking approach aims to secure a sustainable funding mechanism for future infrastructure projects, guaranteeing consistent progress. The Turbo-Sikhendu Road Project will be a vital catalyst for regional economic rejuvenation and a clear indication of the government's dedication to integrated national development.
