The 5th Annual Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya Conference concluded with a site visit to the Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit PPP Road Project. Participants received an insightful technical presentation at the Naivasha site camp followed by a guided tour of the works.

The visit gave engineers first-hand exposure to modern project execution and innovative approaches to infrastructure development. The Kenya National Highways Authority valued the opportunity to engage with ACEK and contribute to knowledge sharing within the engineering profession.

KeNHA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with consulting engineers. The Authority supports initiatives that promote professional learning, innovation and excellence in infrastructure development.

Photographs from the visit showed engineers and officials examining project elements on site. The Naivasha camp served as the base for the technical briefing that preceded the tour.

The Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit Highway is being delivered under a public-private partnership arrangement. Construction is currently underway along key sections of the corridor.

The conference site visit provided a practical complement to the formal sessions held earlier. Delegates were able to observe progress and discuss technical aspects directly with members of the project team.

No specific construction statistics or completion percentages were released during the tour. The emphasis remained on knowledge exchange and professional engagement between the Authority and consulting engineers.

KeNHA continues to position such interactions as part of its broader outreach to the consulting engineering community. The Authority regards collaboration with ACEK as beneficial for raising standards across the sector.

Further site engagements and technical forums are expected as major highway projects advance. The Naivasha stop formed the closing practical component of the 2026 ACEK conference programme.

Engineers left with direct insight into the execution methods being applied on the PPP road. The guided tour covered active work areas and allowed questions on design and construction approaches.

The presence of both KeNHA staff and ACEK members at the site underscored the value placed on professional dialogue. Such visits help bridge the gap between design offices and field implementation.

As the Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit project continues, similar opportunities for technical exchange are likely to arise. The Authority has signalled its readiness to host further professional groups.

The conference itself focused on engineering transformation, green growth and resilient infrastructure. The site visit grounded those themes in a live, large-scale road project currently under construction.
