Kenyan university graduates can now access fully funded master's degree opportunities across multiple European higher education institutions.

The European Union (EU) has opened the application portal for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters scholarship programme, allowing qualified Kenyan professionals and recent graduates to pursue fully funded postgraduate studies in Europe.

Conducted by international consortia of higher education institutions, these programmes require students to undertake their learning across at least three distinct universities situated in different European nations.

The comprehensive financial package handles all student participation costs, including full tuition fees, comprehensive health and accident insurance, travel allowances, and visa processing expenses. Successful candidates also receive a monthly living stipend to support themselves throughout their residency abroad.

Kenyan applicants must possess a completed bachelor's degree from a recognized institution or be in their final year of undergraduate studies, provided they graduate before the master's coursework commences.

Popular academic disciplines available within the current programme catalogue include civil engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, environmental studies, and sustainable development.

Prospective students must submit an online application directly to their preferred programme through the dedicated European Commission portal, which handles the selection process on a case-by-case basis.

Required documentation includes certified academic transcripts, graduation certificates, a curriculum vitae, detailed letters of recommendation, and a focused personal statement detailing their professional motivation.

The study tracks span between 12 and 24 months, depending on whether the specific curriculum demands 60, 90, or 120 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits.

Graduates eventually earn either a single joint degree certificate issued by at least two partner institutions or multiple distinct degrees from the participating consortium universities.

Application deadlines vary significantly across the individual institutional websites running the courses, though most specific programme tracks require submissions to be finalized between January and May.
