Kenya and the United Kingdom (UK) have renewed their joint pledge to enhance digital security infrastructure and protect vital critical national systems against rising global cyber threats.
The commitment was reinforced during a high-level bilateral engagement held in Nairobi, bringing together government officials, sector experts, and international diplomatic delegates.
Representing the Kenyan delegation was the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Information Communication Technology (ICT) and the Digital Economy, Eng. John Tanui. He emphasized that building robust defensive frameworks remains essential as Kenya accelerates its national digital transformation agenda.
During the sessions, delegates discussed strategic measures to secure public data networks, improve incident response capabilities, and establish real-time threat intelligence sharing mechanisms.
Protecting national communication channels, critical infrastructure projects, and sovereign databases was identified as a paramount priority for both nations moving forward.
The United Kingdom representatives highlighted the importance of international partnership in curbing cross-border cyber risks, pointing out that digital stability directly underpins regional economic security, investment confidence, and infrastructure resilience.
Both delegations agreed to maintain structured dialogue, facilitate specialized technical training programs, and explore continuous joint exercises designed to fortify administrative systems against complex online breaches.
