KURA has announced a night-time traffic disruption on Ngong Road, near Junction Mall, from November 18 to December 10, 2025, for the erection of the flyover's steel structure.

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has issued a Public Notice alerting motorists to a temporary night-time traffic disruption along a section of Ngong Road to facilitate the critical stage of steel structure erection for the ongoing flyover project.

This essential phase of construction, which is focused around the Junction Mall area, is set to commence on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, and will run through to Wednesday, December 10, 2025. The construction activities, involving the transport and erection of the steel frame for the overpass, will be strictly carried out between 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM daily, with the excemption of Sundays when no work is scheduled.

To ensure continuity of traffic flow during these hours, KURA will implement a temporary diversion, converting the section between the Nairobi City County Training School and the Kenya Science Campus (University of Nairobi) into a two-way traffic zone. This rerouting is designed to accommodate vehicles moving both to Karen and towards Town, navigating around the enclosed construction area near the Kenya Meteorological Department.

The flyover project is a significant component of Nairobi's broader urban mobility transformation strategy, aimed at decongesting the notoriously busy intersection of Ngong Road and Naivasha Road. Motorists are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution when approaching the affected stretch.

KURA reiterated that compliance with all traffic instructions from the police officers and traffic marshals on-site is paramount to maintaining smooth and safe vehicle movement and has expressed regret for any inconvenience that may arise from the disruption, emphasising that these necessary nocturnal works are a major step towards the timely completion of the project, which will ultimately enhance connectivity and reduce travel time for thousands of commuters.
