The engineering and infrastructure sector is setting its sights on the future as the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) prepares to host its 32nd International Convention. The event, themed "Engineering the Future: The Roadmap for Kenya," is scheduled to take place from November 25th to 28th, 2025, at the stunning PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa in Mombasa County.
The convention is positioned as a pivotal platform for industry leaders, policymakers, and engineers to align technological innovation and sustainable practices with the nation’s ambitious development goals, including Vision 2030 and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Eng. Jacinta Mwangi, the Ag. Director for Policy Strategy & Compliance at the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), has extended a warm invitation to all prospective delegates and partners. Representing a critical implementing agency for Kenya’s infrastructure development, Eng. Mwangi’s message underscores the essential role of interdisciplinary collaboration in achieving national transformation.
Discussions during the four-day event are expected to revolve around key thematic areas such as sustainable infrastructure, policy and governance, and leveraging technology for national transformation. This focus ensures that the outcomes of the convention will directly inform and shape the execution of major projects aimed at economic growth and resilience across the country.
The IEK Convention is therefore not just a meeting but a strategic opportunity for the engineering community to solidify its role as the indispensable driver of sustainable and inclusive growth for Kenya.
