A housing development in Bungoma County delivering 372 units has reached steady construction phases, supported by a coordination framework between national administrators, project teams, and the local community.

The Kanduyi affordable housing project is currently advancing through its primary structural stages. National administration officers have established a consistent presence at the site in Musikoma Ward to monitor work quality and ensure the development remains aligned with the original timelines. This oversight serves as a functional link between the contractors and the local leadership, allowing for immediate resolution of logistical hurdles.

The technical scope of the development involves the construction of four residential blocks. These structures are designed to accommodate a diverse demographic through a specific unit distribution. The inventory includes 74 social housing units, 178 affordable housing units, and 120 market-rate units. By offering studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom configurations, the project aims to provide modern living options for various income levels within Bungoma.

Beyond the brick-and-mortar progress, the site has become a focal point for local economic activity. The procurement of building materials from regional suppliers and the hiring of both skilled and unskilled labor from the surrounding areas have provided a direct financial stimulus to the Kanduyi constituency. This integration of local workers into the construction supply chain is intended to ensure the project’s benefits extend beyond the eventual provision of housing.

Local administrators have emphasized that the steady pace of work is a result of this localized management approach. By maintaining open communication with residents and small-scale vendors, the project teams have secured the necessary community support to sustain day and night shifts. The focus now remains on completing the external shells of the four blocks before transitioning to internal fit-outs and utility installations.
