A major traffic snarl-up has been reported along the Southern Bypass after multiple trucks were involved in an accident at the Dagoretti climb lane near the Thogoto area on Tuesday afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, one of the trucks is suspected to have suffered brake failure before the driver lost control and crashed into another transit truck, causing one of the vehicles to overturn.

Several people were reportedly injured in the crash, although the exact number and the extent of the injuries had not been confirmed by responders at the time of publication.
The Southern Bypass is a critical route for traffic moving around Nairobi. Accidents in this section often lead to significant delays due to the high volume of vehicles, particularly heavy trucks.
The Thogoto area is known for its challenging gradients, which have been linked to previous incidents involving commercial vehicles.
Traffic police and emergency services responded to clear the wreckage and manage the resulting congestion. Motorists were advised to use alternative routes during the clearance operation.
This latest incident adds to concerns about road safety on Nairobiβs major corridors. Heavy truck traffic and road design continue to be points of discussion among commuters and authorities.
