Africa's massive refining facility prepares to list locally, prioritizing everyday domestic investors ahead of any international market debut.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery (DPR) is moving forward with plans to list its shares through an Initial Public Offering (IPO) scheduled for October, prioritizing local retail investors over international exchanges.

Management confirmed that the stock market floating will target domestic individual buyers, while ruling out a simultaneous dual listing on foreign stock markets for now.

The $20 billion industrial facility located in Lekki, Lagos, represents one of the largest infrastructure undertakings on the African continent.

Company officials indicated that the decision to focus on local stock exchanges is aimed at democratizing ownership and allowing domestic investors to participate directly in the facility’s financial equity.

The initial public offering, which is expected to become one of Africa’s largest public listings, comes as the refinery ramps up operational capacity.

The management noted that primary listing procedures will be conducted through local regulatory frameworks, ensuring that domestic retail participants receive priority allocation during the equity subscription period.

Overseas capital market listings have been ruled out for the immediate offering, as corporate strategy emphasizes domestic market liquidity.

Executives explained that while international listings remain a future option, the current focus remains strictly on local market engagement and regulatory compliance within Nigeria.

The downstream facility, designed with a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, was built to meet regional refined product demand and reduce dependence on imported fuels.

Industry analysts view the public offering as a significant event for regional financial markets and industrial asset funding across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Financial advisors for the equity offering are finalising the prospectus details ahead of the anticipated October debut.

Further regulatory disclosures regarding share pricing, issue structure, and subscription timelines are expected to be published closer to the public offering launch date.
