President William Samoei Ruto has launched the upgrading to bitumen standards of the Makaveti-Kyangala-Iiuni Road in Machakos County.

The launch event took place at the Makaveti area, located within Machakos Town Constituency.

The infrastructure initiative covers a length of 17.1 kilometers, targeting a key transport corridor in the region.

According to updates shared by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), the upgrading project is expected to boost local economic opportunities.

State officials noted that the road project will create direct employment while improving livelihoods across the targeted community.

The infrastructure development is also targeted at enhancing general road connectivity within Machakos Town Constituency and the broader county.

The transition from earth surface to bitumen standards forms part of ongoing public investment in rural road networks.

Improved connectivity along the corridor is anticipated to ease the transit of farm produce and local commerce.

Residents around the Makaveti, Kyangala, and Iiuni stretches stand to gain from reliable access to regional trade hubs once completed.

The project aligns with the national government's mandate to expand paved road coverage across rural constituencies nationwide.

Construction activities along the 17.1-kilometer alignment will proceed under the supervision of state infrastructure engineers.

Local leaders joined President Ruto during the official launch ceremonies held on site in Machakos.

Further progress reports on construction timelines and site operations are expected as works advance along the corridor.
