The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has released a fresh set of road maintenance tenders covering four national highway corridors as part of its fourth-quarter financial year 2025-2026 procurement cycle. All works are funded through the Road Maintenance Levy Fund.

Corridor A traverses Nairobi and Kajiado counties and carries the most technically demanding packages, with four performance-based road lighting contracts and one framework emergency handling contract. The lighting works cover:

Ole Sereni to Ngong Road Interchange (A8S), requiring National Construction Authority (NCA) electrical categories 1 to 6 and Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) Class A, B, or C

Ngong Road Interchange to Gitaru (A8S), with the same NCA electrical and EPRA licensing requirements

James Gichuru Road Junction to JKIA Mazao Road Gateway Overpass (A8/B10), requiring NCA electrical categories 1 to 5 and EPRA Class A, B, or C

Gateway Overpass to Crystal Rivers Mall (A8/Q39), requiring NCA electrical categories 1 to 6 and EPRA Class A, B, or C

All four Corridor A lighting contracts are open to all bidders. Pre-tender site visits run from July 1 to July 3, 2026, at venues along the respective sections of the Southern Bypass.

A separate framework contract for handling emergencies in Corridor A is reserved for youth contractors holding NCA categories 5, 6, or 7, with a pre-bid conference set for July 3, 2026, at the KeNHA Corridor A office boardroom in Athi River.

Corridor B runs through Busia, Kakamega, Nandi, Uasin Gishu, and Kericho counties, covering four performance-based maintenance and safety enhancement contracts on two of Kenya's busiest inter-regional trunk roads. Roads covered include:

Webuye to Maili Tisa (A8), reserved for youth, requiring NCA categories 3, 4, or 5

Ngeria to Timboroa (A8), reserved for women, requiring NCA categories 4, 5, or 6

Kisian to Ahero (A12), open to all, requiring NCA categories 3, 4, or 5

Ahero to Kericho (A12), open to all, requiring NCA categories 3, 4, or 5

Pre-tender site visits for Corridor B begin June 30, 2026. The Kisian to Ahero visit starts at 9:00 AM at Kisian along the Kisumu to Busia road, with the Ahero to Kericho visit following at 1:00 PM at the Kericho Interchange.

The Webuye and Ngeria visits are both scheduled for July 2, 2026, at Pan Paper Gate in Webuye and at Ngeria Junction to AEZ respectively. Corridor B packages are split between the KeNHA Nyanza Regional Office in Kisumu and the KeNHA North Rift Regional Office in Eldoret.

Corridor C spans Laikipia, Meru, and Garissa counties, offering two contracts. The Ukasi to Bangali (A3) road is open to all bidders and requires NCA categories 4, 5, or 6, with a pre-tender site visit on June 30, 2026, at Bangali town.

The Nanyuki to Lewa (A2) contract is reserved for women and requires NCA categories 3, 4, or 5, with a site visit on July 1, 2026, at Nanyuki River Bridge. The Ukasi to Bangali package falls under the KeNHA North Eastern Regional Office in Garissa, while Nanyuki to Lewa is managed through the KeNHA Central Region offices in Nyeri.

Corridor D cuts through West Pokot and Turkana counties, covering two performance-based maintenance contracts on the A1 road. The Morpus to KWS Gate section is reserved for youth and requires NCA categories 4, 5, or 6, with a site visit on July 1, 2026, at Morpus.

The KWS Gate to Lokichar section is reserved for PWD contractors with the same NCA requirements, with a site visit at KWS Gate at 2:00 PM on the same date. Both Corridor D packages are managed through the KeNHA North Rift Regional Office in Eldoret.

Across all corridors, bidders may submit for a maximum of two tenders but can only receive one contract award. Directors with ongoing works as of the tender closing date are ineligible, and any director found bidding under different companies for the same tender faces automatic disqualification.

Every pre-tender site visit requires one technical representative per company holding a minimum of a diploma in civil or highway engineering.

That individual must carry an original introductory letter on official company letterhead, plus certified copies of their identification, academic certificates, and current registration with either the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB), or the Institute of Engineering Technologists and Technicians (IET).

All tender submissions close on July 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the respective regional offices.
