The Kenya Vision 2030 secretariat has highlighted advancement on the Ngong RoadβNaivasha Road Flyover at the Junction Mall intersection in Nairobi. The elevated structure forms a key urban intervention along one of the cityβs busiest western corridors.
The development includes a four-lane flyover, upgraded junctions, pedestrian walkways, dedicated cycling lanes, improved drainage, modern street lighting and enhanced landscaping. These elements target better mobility, safety and overall urban order.

The flyover will carry through traffic on Ngong Road above the at-grade junction with Naivasha Road. This separation eases conflicts where vehicles turning toward Karen, Dagoretti or other side routes currently mix with mainline flow.
Once completed, the flyover will cut travel times between Ngong Town and the Central Business District. It will improve traffic flow and reliability for both private vehicles and public transport services using the corridor.

The project addresses long-standing bottlenecks at the Junction Mall junction. Motorists currently face frequent delays during peak hours as local and through traffic compete for space at grade level.
By elevating main traffic on Ngong Road, the design reduces interference at the intersection with Naivasha Road. This approach mirrors other urban flyovers seeking to maintain continuous movement above congested areas.
Beyond congestion relief, the flyover is expected to lower transport costs and delays for businesses. It will strengthen economic productivity by improving access to key urban and peri-urban zones along the route.

The initiative aligns with Kenyaβs Vision 2030 infrastructure goals. It contributes to the development of efficient, safe and sustainable transport systems that support broader urban growth and economic transformation.
Construction forms part of ongoing efforts by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority to modernise critical city links. The works integrate with wider rehabilitation along Ngong Road and related corridors.
The project delivers multiple benefits in one package. Pedestrian and cycling infrastructure improves safety for non-motorised users, while drainage and lighting upgrades enhance the overall quality of the corridor.
Officials note that completion will deliver measurable improvements in journppey reliability. Reduced stop-start traffic at the junction should also contribute to lower emissions in the immediate area..
The flyover is targeted for completion around July 2026, ahead of the original schedule. Most of the works are at advanced stages so this is likely to come true.
The flyover represents one component in Nairobiβs expanding network of targeted road interventions. These projects aim to keep pace with growing vehicle numbers and urban expansion pressures.
