Construction on ten residential blocks in Laikipia West advances to interior fittings as superstructure works reach final completion.

Contractors on the Nyahururu Affordable Housing Project in Laikipia West Constituency have substantially finished structural concrete frames across the site. The development is moving directly into walling, plastering, and interior utility installations.

Officials confirm the site features ten distinct multi-story blocks designed to yield 955 residential apartments. Construction crews are currently scaling up labor force numbers to handle internal finishings.

The estate is being developed under the national Affordable Housing Programme (AHP), which aims to expand formal residential stock in growing urban centers. Project managers report that structural casting across all blocks progressed without major delays.

The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration (SDISNA) is supervising administrative coordination and statutory approvals on-site. Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo noted that cross-agency oversight remains active to maintain build schedules.

Engineers designed the layout as an integrated live-work community rather than a isolated residential compound. Civil works include dedicated access roads, stormwater drainage networks, and centralized utility connections.

Site plans incorporate several social and educational facilities built alongside the residential towers. Workers have outlined sites for a community clubhouse, outdoor basketball court, and a local kindergarten.

Commercial spaces are also integrated into ground levels to accommodate small business operators. Local traders will access these units upon completion, when tenant allocation procedures commence.

The development addresses rapid urban growth in Nyahururu Town, where rental demand regularly outstrips supply. Municipal planners expect the incoming residential population to stimulate local retail activity.

Subcontractors are currently installing electrical conduits, plumbing lines, and window frames in several completed blocks. Masonry teams have also begun exterior plastering works across lower floor elevations.

Inter-agency coordination teams conduct weekly assessments to evaluate statutory compliance and site safety measures. Representatives from national utility providers are coordinating underground connection routes.

Finishing trades are expected to continue through upcoming quarters as plasterers, painters, and tilers move through the structures sequentially. Procurement of interior fixtures and sanitation hardware is already underway.

The completion of this housing scheme will inject significant formal housing capacity into Laikipia County, while serving as a operational model for similar upcountry developments. Final inspections will follow completion of all interior fit-outs.
