Structural work on three residential blocks in Nyeri Town has concluded, bringing 381 new homes closer to completion under the government's flagship Affordable Housing Programme.

The landscape of Nyeri Town is undergoing a visible shift as the Blue Valley Affordable Housing Project moves into its final stages of development.

Internal Security and National Administration Principal Secretary, Dr. Raymond Omollo, confirmed that structural work on the three primary residential blocks is now complete.

Each of these buildings rises 11 storeys high, representing a densification of the local residential area designed to address the growing demand for modern housing.

Work has transitioned from the heavy lifting of masonry and reinforced concrete into the detailed finishing phase.

This stage involves the installation of internal fixtures, painting, and the completion of utility connections across the site.

Once finished, the development will provide 381 housing units.

These units are categorized to serve different economic brackets, including Social, Affordable, and Market-Rate segments.

The diversity in pricing is a core component of the project's design, intended to ensure that the development remains accessible to a broad demographic of Nyeri residents.

Beyond the residential units, the project incorporates several infrastructure features intended to support a modern urban lifestyle.

Tenants will have access to retail spaces located within the complex, which are expected to host essential services and small businesses.

Standard amenities include integrated playgrounds for children and lift access for all floors.

The project also features a gas reticulation system, a modern utility setup that provides piped gas directly to individual kitchens, replacing the need for traditional cylinders.

The Blue Valley development is a central component of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

This national policy framework, championed by President Ruto, prioritizes the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP) as a driver for both social equity and regional economic activity.

In Nyeri, the impact of the construction has extended beyond the provision of future homes.

The site continues to act as a source of employment for hundreds of local artisans, laborers, and material suppliers, injecting capital directly into the Nyeri Town economy.

The implementation of the project relies on a coordinated inter-agency approach.

The State Department of Housing and Urban Development leads the technical execution of the works.

However, local coordination and administrative oversight are supported by the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration.

This collaboration ensures that the project aligns with both national housing goals and local security and administrative requirements.

As the scaffolding begins to come down, the focus remains on meeting the quality standards required for the handover of the 381 units to their future owners.
