KeNHA has notified motorists of phased night-time closures on key lanes of Uhuru Highway and the Haile Selassie Roundabout from January 16 to 18, 2026, to allow reinstatement of the asphalt concrete layer.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a public notice warning of temporary road closures on sections of Uhuru Highway and the Haile Selassie Avenue Roundabout in Nairobi. Acting Director General Luka Kimeli stated that the measure will affect CBD-bound lanes, Upper Hill-bound lanes, Mombasa-bound lanes, and Nakuru-bound lanes.

The closures are scheduled in phases during off-peak hours, from 10 pm to 5 am, running from Friday, January 16, through Sunday, January 18, 2026. KeNHA explained that the work is required for the reinstatement of the asphalt concrete layer at the roundabout, a frequent intervention to maintain surface durability on one of the city's most heavily trafficked junctions.
The authority emphasised that police officers and traffic marshals will be present throughout the period to manage flow and provide guidance.

Motorists have been directed to follow the proposed traffic management plan and exercise caution near the affected areas. Alternative routes, such as exiting at the Boulevard Hotel onto Harry Thuku Road, then proceeding via Moi Avenue and Kenyatta Avenue to rejoin the highway, have been suggested in related advisories to help reduce delays.

This short-term maintenance forms part of ongoing efforts to keep Nairobi's primary arterial roads in serviceable condition amid daily heavy use.
