Apple has officially added the iPhone X and the 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro to its list of obsolete products. The shift marks the end of official hardware service for both devices across all Apple Stores and authorised repair providers.

The tech firm assigns obsolete status to devices more than seven years after sales end. Once marked, hardware service ceases entirely, and technicians can no longer order original factory replacement parts.

Hardware operations stop for both units, but existing devices continue functioning normally. Owners seeking future hardware maintenance must rely exclusively on third-party repair shops or independent technicians.

First launched in November 2017, the iPhone X brought significant updates to the product line, including an edge-to-edge display and facial recognition technology. Apple ceased sales of the model in September 2018.

The 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro debuted in July 2018 with specialized security hardware and updated processing components. The laptop model featured Apple's butterfly keyboard design, which required specific service coverage programs until recent years.

Software support for both systems concluded before the hardware service phase ended. The iPhone X capped updates at Operating System (OS) 16, while the MacBook Pro stopped receiving updates after macOS Sequoia.

Mac users maintain a minor exemption regarding component access. Apple allows battery service for selected Mac models for up to 10 years after production stops, subject to regional part availability.
