The 100-acre Migori County Aggregation and Industrial Park has entered its final construction phase, with warehouses, administrative buildings and support infrastructure largely complete ahead of full operations.

The Migori County Aggregation and Industrial Park is advancing toward full operations. The project sits on a 100-acre site at Macalder Kanyarwanda in Nyatike Constituency and forms part of a national effort to create county-level industrial hubs.

Jointly implemented by the National Government and Migori County Government, the park is designed as a centralized agro-processing and manufacturing centre. It targets key local commodities including fish, sweet potatoes, sugar, rice, maize and horticultural produce.

Infrastructure on the site now includes eight large warehouses arranged in two blocks. Additional structures comprise an administrative complex, a central powerhouse, a main store, a water tank and an ablution facility.

The project has entered its final phase. Internal floor tiling is underway while external cabro works are shaping access roads and walkways. These finishing works will complete the physical layout needed for commercial activity.

Modern storage and cold chain systems have been installed. The facility is structured to improve aggregation, cut post-harvest losses and raise returns for producers by reducing inefficiencies in the value chain.

The park will serve all sub-counties across Migori. These include Nyatike, Rongo, Awendo, Uriri, Suna East, Suna West, Kuria East and Kuria West. It is expected to scale county-led industrialization and generate around 30,000 jobs.

The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to support the project. Its role includes ensuring a stable operating environment, coordinating local administrative support and fostering community alignment ahead of full commissioning.

Construction progress reflects deliberate planning to turn agricultural strengths into structured industrial opportunity. The completed warehouses and support buildings now stand ready for equipment installation and operational setup.

The park forms part of a wider national framework that seeks regionally balanced development. Each county is encouraged to leverage its resource base through similar industrial parks. Migori’s focus on agro-processing aligns with this approach.

Site works have moved steadily from major structural phases into finishing. The combination of warehousing, power infrastructure and cold chain capacity positions the facility to handle significant volumes once fully operational.

Local authorities and national agencies are expected to maintain close coordination during the transition to commercial use. Community engagement remains important for the park’s long-term success and integration into the regional economy.
