The estate is set to be renamed Johana Ng’eno Boma Yangu Estate in honour of the late Hon. Johana Ng’eno, former Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament and Chairperson of the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works. The directive was issued by President William Ruto in March 2026, recognizing Ng’eno’s dedication to advancing housing reforms.
The renaming reflects the broader national commitment to strengthening the Affordable Housing Programme as a cornerstone of Kenya’s development agenda. By linking infrastructure growth with social progress, the Government continues to position housing as a catalyst for dignity, opportunity and long-term urban transformation.
Shauri Moyo A forms a significant part of the project and comprises 1,848 housing units spread across 12 blocks rising 14 floors each. The design integrates essential social amenities that enhance everyday living, ensuring residents benefit from convenience, accessibility and a sense of community within the estate.

Facilities within Shauri Moyo A include ample parking spaces, an Early Childhood Development centre, retail shops, a social hall and open recreational areas. These features have been thoughtfully incorporated to promote family life, social interaction and safe environments for children and youth to thrive.
The ongoing Shauri Moyo B development further expands the vision of an inclusive and modern urban settlement. Once complete, the project will deliver 4,566 mixed-use residential units designed to cater to diverse socio economic groups, reinforcing the principle that affordable housing should be accessible to all Kenyans.
Beyond residential units, Shauri Moyo B will incorporate modern amenities such as a kindergarten, clubhouse, shopping mall, hospital and swimming pool. These facilities aim to create a self sustaining community where residents can live, work, shop and access services within close proximity, reducing pressure on city infrastructure.
