A multi-agency response team successfully contained a fire that destroyed two dormitories at St Joseph Seminary Boys' School in Nakuru County, leaving severe property damage but no casualties.

Emergency response teams have contained a fire that broke out at St Joseph Seminary Boys' School in Nakuru County, preventing the flames from spreading to adjacent structures.

The fire destroyed two student dormitories with a total capacity of 86 beds, reducing student accommodation facilities and personal belongings to ashes.

A statement issued by the Kenya Red Cross (KRC) confirmed that the early emergency response prevented a larger disaster.

The containment operation involved a coordinated effort by the Timsales Company Fire Brigade, the Nakuru County Disaster Response Team, and first responders from the KRC.

No casualties or fatalities were recorded, and all students and school staff were reported safe following the evacuation.

The incident occurs amidst heightened nationwide concern regarding structural safety and emergency preparedness in educational institutions.

Just days earlier, a severe dormitory fire at Utumishi Girls' Academy in Gilgil, Nakuru County, resulted in 16 fatalities and dozens of injuries, intensifying pressure on administrators to audit boarding infrastructure.

Another fire incident was reported at Gacharage Secondary School in Murang'a County, where emergency teams safely evacuated learners without casualties.

Education stakeholders are increasingly calling for stricter enforcement of safety regulations and structural compliance audits across all boarding facilities in the country.

The multi-agency partners at the Nakuru seminary were praised for their prompt synergy, which successfully averted further infrastructure damage and saved lives.

An assessment of the exact value of the destroyed property and structural damage at the institution remains underway.
