The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has warned of heavy traffic on the Rironi-Nakuru-Mau Summit (A8) Highway on Friday, November 28, 2025. President William Ruto is scheduled to launch the road project at various locations. Motorists are advised to reschedule travel or use listed alternative routes, such as the Narok or Ol Kalou diversions, to avoid delays.

The Kenya National Highways Authority has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory alerting motorists and the general public of anticipated disruptions along the busy Northern Corridor this coming Friday.

The alert follows the confirmation that His Excellency President Dr. William Samoei Ruto will preside over the official launch of the Rironi-Nakuru-Mau Summit (A8) Road on November 28, 2025.

This high-profile event is scheduled to take place at various locations along the corridor, signaling a major milestone in the country's infrastructure development agenda.

According to the public notice released by the Authority on Wednesday, the launch activities are envisaged to cause significant traffic congestion throughout the day.

The A8 Highway serves as a critical artery for trade and passenger travel between Nairobi and Western Kenya, often carrying a high volume of heavy commercial vehicles and public service transport.

In light of the expected delays, the Authority has strongly advised motorists who intend to use this route on Friday to either reschedule their journeys or utilize designated alternative routes to ensure smooth movement.

For travelers moving between Nairobi and Nakuru, the Authority has recommended the Ngong-Suswa-Narok route, which connects through Mau Narok and Njoro into Nakuru.

Alternatively, motorists can opt for the Nairobi-Thika-Magumu-Njabini-Ol Kalou route to access Nakuru. These diversions are intended to decongest the main highway while the presidential function proceeds.

Additionally, road users operating within the Rift Valley region have been directed to use the Nakuru-Kampi ya Moto-Ravine-Makutano link or the Nakuru-Njoro-Molo-Mau Summit road to bypass the affected sections.

The Acting Director General of the Kenya National Highways Authority, Engineer Luka Kimeli, urged all motorists plying these sections to plan their itineraries accordingly to avoid inconveniences.

The Rironi-Nakuru-Mau Summit project is regarded as one of the most significant infrastructure undertakings in the region, designed to expand the capacity of the road and enhance safety standards.

While the temporary disruption is regretted, the launch underscores the government's commitment to modernizing the country's transport network.

Motorists are encouraged to exercise patience and strictly adhere to traffic marshals' directions during the event to maintain order and safety on the alternative corridors.
