Energisation of the Isinya to Konza transmission link secures stable electricity supply across Kajiado, Machakos, and Makueni counties.

Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has completed the energisation of the 400kV Isinya to Konza Transmission Line alongside the 400/132/66kV Konza Substation.

State utility officials confirmed the grid integration, targeting improved voltage quality and transmission capacity throughout the Lower Eastern region.

According to KETRACO Acting Managing Director, Eng. Kipkemoi Kibias, the high-voltage connection expands the electricity network servicing Kajiado, Machakos, and Makueni counties.

The line carries bulk power to support escalating residential, commercial, and industrial loads across the three counties.

The technical scope ensures direct, high-capacity utility infrastructure for Konza Technopolis.

The smart city installation relies on high-voltage transmission to anchor tech infrastructure, enterprise zones, and real estate development under the Kenya Vision 2030 economic model.

Regional demand growth prompted the high-voltage deployment, which links into national grid circuits to mitigate local power drops.

Eng. Kibias noted that stabilizing bulk energy transfer remains essential for encouraging manufacturing setups and private investment outside the capital.
